The Program Aide award is designed for Cadette Girl Scouts and older who are ready to take the next step in their Girl Scout leadership journey. Program Aides build the skills and confidence to work with younger Girl Scouts while becoming positive role models within the Girl Scout community. During this training, participants will explore the Girl Scout program, learn about the developmental characteristics and needs of younger girls, and understand the role and responsibilities of a Program Aide. Girls will practice selecting, planning, adapting, and leading age-appropriate activities while building skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, group management, and leadership. This session includes a special opportunity! Our Wi-Wo-Ca Campfire Night will directly follow the training, giving girls the chance to immediately put their new skills into practice by assisting with activities and interacting with younger Girl Scouts in a supportive, real-world setting. After completing Program Aide Training, girls will be eligible to volunteer as Program Aides at select regional and council events, giving them opportunities to continue practicing their leadership skills, gain hands-on experience, and help create memorable experiences for younger Girl Scouts.
