Join us for an advanced approach to the world of leadership training!! Take your training to a higher level through interactions with other leaders and trainers. We have added some new classes and more chances of networking. This year we are adding an older girl component on Sunday. Check out the new classes and sessions for girls!!! Enrich and discover the world of leadership in one of our councils beautiful camps. Join us at Skyland Ranch!

This year we are offering 4 times schedules, three for adults only and one for older girls (6th thru 12th grade) on Sunday. Adults may choose to spend the entire weekend from Friday evening to Sunday noon for only $75, or Adults may choose to spend Friday evening the Saturday evening for only $60. Adults may also choose to attend Saturday only for $50. This includes meals, snacks, materials and program supplies. A few classes do have an additional charge for extra supplies. 

Girls with proper adult supervision may attend girl classes on Sunday for $20. This covers class materials, bag, and lunch. Girls may not spend the weekend but may arrive Sunday morning to taae a variety of classes designed for girls.

Class Descriptions

 

Classes for Adult Only:

 

  1. Basic Outdoor Training (BOT)—A required course for adults who want to take girls on overnight trips. This class will assist you in preparing your girls to go camping the “Girl Scout Way” and become familiar with outdoor progression. This class has an online section that must be taken prior to the class. This is an 8 hour class.
  2. Bronze Award Workshop—Did you know that Junior Girl Scouts can get one step closer to their Gold Award by completing their Bronze Award? It is great practice in preparing for the Gold Award. Learn all about the award and how to earn this award.  This class is offered for leaders of Junior troops and is a 3 hour class.
  3. Conflict Resolution—Did you know that there is a method to solving the conflicts that can arise with your troop? Between adults and girls? Learn the basic keys of solving these conflicts. This is a 3 hour class.
  4. Diversity—diversity is the inclusion of things, people, and places that are different, for example, having different races, genders, ages, and ethnicity of people in one place. No one thing or person is the same and is made up of different cultures and backgrounds. But how do we work with this diversity in our troops? Take this class and find out. This is a 3 hour class.
  5. Entrepreneur 101—An entrepreneur according to Merriam-Webster dictionary is: on who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. So how does this translate to Girl Scout Product Sales and the development of women in business? Check out this class and see the connection. This is a 3 hour class.
  6. First Aid/CPR—Earn an American Red Cross Certification for First Aid/CPR. A First Aid/CPR certified adult must accompany a troop at all meetings and on all field trips. This is a 6 hour class, and has an extra charge of $50.
  7. Girl Scout History and Traditions—Not many organizations for girls have such a long history and wide variety of traditions. Come learn about our history and the development of the many Girl Scout Traditions including flag ceremonies, Thinking Day, Scouts Own, World Friendship Fund, Girl Scout Cookies, Girl Scout Handshake, and many more. This is a 3 hour class.
  8. Journeys and Badges—This class is designed to bring together journeys and badges while planning program for your girls This is a 3 hour class.
  9. Land Navigation—A hike, a compass, and a map. Together these tools can save a life if you know how to use them. Come learn the basics of how to use a compass and map. Bring back to your troop activities that make learning compass skills fun. This is a 3 hour class.
  10. Mental Health First Aid—The adult Mental Health First Aid course is appropriate for anyone 18 years and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and  addictions. This is an 8 hour class and has an extra charge of $25
  11. Outdoor Cooking—Tired of the usual camp meals? Then this is the class for you! Learn the skills you need to cook almost anything in an outdoor kitchen. This is a 3 hour class.
  12. STEM Activities for Troops—Unsure of your ability to teach STEM activities to you girls. Did you know that council has programs to help you do this? Learn how to make STEM journeys and badges easy and exciting for your girls.  This is a 3 hour class.
  13. Time Management—Every wonder how “super mom” accomplishes all the things she does? Well it is all a matter of time management. Learn some of the many ways to organize your time more efficiently to accomplish the most out of life. This is a 3 hour class.

 

 

Classes for Older Girls:

           

  1. Program Aide Training—Want to help at Council events? Day camp? Learn how to organize activities, teach songs and games, and much more. Learn the behavioral characteristics of the girls you will be working with and how to deal with these behaviors. This is a 6 hour class
  2. Extended Trip Training (ETT)—Does your troop want to go on a trip that takes you further and longer than a weekend trip? Then you need this class!!! Learn how to plan and carry out an extended trip including all the paperwork. This class is required of all girls and leaders that are planning an extended trip. This is a 3 hour class.
  3. Silver Award Workshop—This workshop is given to help girls understand and prepare for earning their Silver Award. Go through the steps necessary to complete the Silver Award. Learn the difference between a service project and a sustainable project needed to complete the Silver Award. This is a 3 hour class.
  4. Gold Award Workshop—Offered to girls looking to earn the highest award in Girl Scouting-The Gold Award.  Go over the steps to complete the Gold Award. Discuss the difference between a service project and a sustainable project. Learn about acquiring help and financing your Gold project. This is required of Senior and Ambassador girls who are looking to earn their Gold Award. This is a 3 hour class

Cancellation Policy
All participants in Girl Scout programs, events, and activities shall adhere to the specific refund policy as defined on the registration/information materials for the specific activities and events. (e.g. council approved flyers, web information posted on the council's official web site or distributed in official council e-mails, council approved day and resident camp brochures etc). Unless otherwise stated the refund policy is: If a mandatory deposit is required it is non-refundable regardless of reason. Activities costing over $15 will be subject to a 15% cancellation fee; activities costing $15 or less are non-refundable. Written notification of cancellation must be received at least thirty (30) days prior to the activity to be considered for a refund. In case of emergency cancellation, a written note must be received within ten (10) days of the activity's statement must be provided to be considered for full or partial refund. If a participant leaves an activity early due to homesickness, unacceptable behavior, or parental request, no refund will be made. If a participant must leave early due to illness or injury, request for prorated refund must be made in writing within ten (10) days of the activity's conclusion to be considered. A full refund including deposit will be made if the activity is cancelled by council. A full refund including deposit will be made if the participant cannot be placed or does not meet the event guidelines. No-shows are non-refundable. Membership registration fees are non-refundable.
